Layla and the Bourbon Street Mardi Gras Cupcakes

Layla really admired the Week 44: Bourbon Street Cupcakes...she almost let her tongue almost get itself wrapped around one! It was a very close call...however, she did conduct herself with the necessary deportment and received a nice doggie type treat for her efforts. You can tell this was difficult trick for her...her eyes are trying to avoid looking at the cupcakes! You go, girl!

Thursday Night Baking: Layla's Star Doggie Treats!

It's another round of doggie treats from the Three Dog Bakery Book. These are called Simple Simon's Birthday Bones, but I used a star cookie cutter instead of a bone shaped one. Layla and the other doggies love them...Here's the recipe:

Simple Simon's Birthday Bones

2 cups whole wheat flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
3/4 cup natural peanut butter
1/4 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 cup oats
1 cup skim milk

Preheat oven to 375. In a bowl, combine flour and baking powder. In another bowl, mix peanut butter and milk. Add wet mixture to dry and mix well. Turn out dough on a lightly floured surface and knead. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick and cut out shapes. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool on a rack, then store in an airtight container.

Here's Layla's on a down stay waiting for her treats...which she gobbled up in 1 second!

Layla's Valentine's Day 2006

Layla hopes that you have a happy Valentine's Day. She will have a doggie cupcake instead of a real cupcake...even though she covets this particular cupcake...because she is her Mom's valentine!

Layla's Favorite Thing...Next to Eating

This is Layla's favorite to eating, I's sleeping. Her normal routine in the morning is to get up with me at 5:10 a.m. so that I can work out and she can eat breakfast. Then she goes out to you know...comes back in and gets on the couch so that she can read the paper with me. Then I go work out and she comes with me and sleeps on the floor. Then we go back upstairs so that I can eat and she gets back on the couch and goes back to sleep. Then when we go to work, she goes in my office and gets into her "beddie" and ... guess what...goes to sleep!
